1 Design Miami

design miami design miami is a global forum for design, and each show brings together the most influential collectors, artists, designers, curators and critics from around the world to celebrate design culture and commerce.

At the Basel Art Fair held every December in Miami, USA and the Basel Switzerland fair in June every year, Design Miami has become the preferred place to collect, display, discuss and create collectible designs.

During the Miami Art Week 2019, a 20-foot-high sculpture `` curved pool '' designed by Elmgreen & Dragset was unveiled in front of the Miami Beach Convention Center. The sculpture is part of the city's "Public Place Art" plan, which is shaped like an inverted "U" shape and the swimming pool is supported by two stone pillars. This creates a private passage for the public, which can pass through one person at a time. Because the sculpture is arched, a form that often commemorates historical battles or marks the entrance to urban etiquette, the work challenges the tradition of outdoor sculpture and monumental architecture.

Louis Vuitton and Andrew Kudless

In designing Miami, Louis Vuitton will exclusively showcase the "'swell wave shelf" designed by designer Andrew Kudless, the first show of the Louis Vuitton objets nomades series.

PINK BEASTS BY FERNANDO LAPOSSE

The Miami Design District has selected Mexican designer Fernando Laposse for the Neighborhood Committee 2019. The installation includes pink sisal tassel hanging from a tree, guiding visitors to discover a series of pink hairy sloths hanging from ropes, trees and arches.

This installation, in collaboration with designer Angela damman, will also include ten sculptural hammocks that will be suspended from metal structures and directly from palm trees for public use. The fascinating pink landscape of pink beasts is achieved by dyeing sisal fibers with a natural dye made from carmine, a tiny parasite native to central Mexico, which grows in cacti.

Yayoi Kusama, my eternal love for pumpkins

ICA Miami exhibited Yayoi Kusama's special off-site exhibition of pumpkins "Eternal Love". From October 12, 2019 to January 31, 2019, this Yayoi Kusama signature work "Infinite Mirror Room" first appeared in Miami. The work will present a series of fascinating Yayoi Kusama's characteristic spotted pumpkins in a mirror-lined room illuminated by LEDs.

Versace and SASHA BIKOFF

Versace and SASHA BIKOFF, a New York-based interior designer and antique dealer, will debut in Miami. Designers draw inspiration from the brand ’s rich heritage and design a unique piece of furniture. At the same time, the Versace store in the Miami design district will also display three designs designed by SASHA BIKOFF, which will debut during Milan Design Week 2019.

Joint planning by FENDI and Kueng Caputo

FENDI commissioned Zurich design firm Kueng Caputo (directed by Lovis Caputo and Sarah Kueng) to create a series of new works that embellish the exterior colonnade of the brand's headquarters, Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana. Located in the outskirts of Rome, this "Colosseo Quadrato" is the most famous 20th-century Roman building. The exterior wall is carved with pure white travertine to create a majestic vaulted colonnade, giving the city a grand look. Starting from this classic building, Kueng Caputo explores the way the building interacts with the FENDI brand genes, giving birth to the Roman Molds series, capturing the tension created by the subversion of traditional craftsmanship. This tension has always inspired FENDI to create countless masterpieces.
